The Executive of Harmonia are thrilled to announce that Penni Clarke has accepted our invitation to join the choir as our new Artistic Director. Penni comes to us as an experienced singer and accomplished conductor. She is a dedicated teacher who is enthusiastic about skill building. She has a warm, outgoing personality and a strong commitment to community choirs. We are confident that Harmonia is in good hands and that the future will be musically stimulating and immensely enjoyable for us all.
A native Newfoundlander, Penni Clarke has studied singing, conducting and music education in both Canada and Europe. Penni obtained a Master’s degree in vocal performance and a Diploma in music education from McGill University. She furthered her voice studies at the prestigious Royal Conservatory of the Hague, gaining performing experience throughout Europe as both a soloist and professional chorister.
As a conductor, Penni completed a Master's degree of music in choral conducting from the Lemmensinstituut in Leuven, Belgium and has participated in master classes internationally. From 2006 to 2014, she directed several choirs in Brussels, including the choirs at St. Andrew’s Church of Scotland and the chamber choir Bruxell’ A Cappella.
A passionate music educator, Penni taught at international schools throughout her time in Europe, including the British School of Brussels. Since 2014, she has been the artistic director of the McGill Conservatory Choirs and music specialist at Lower Canada College. She is thrilled to be conducting and collaborating with the vibrant members of La Chorale Harmonia.

Chanteuse expérimentée et chef de chœur accomplie, Penni est une enseignante dévouée pour qui le développement des compétences est essentiel. De personnalité chaleureuse et extravertie, Penni démontre un engagement fort envers les chorales communautaires. Nous sommes convaincues que La Chorale Harmonia est en de bonnes mains et que l'avenir sera musicalement stimulant et agréable pour nous toutes.
Originaire de Terre-Neuve, Penni Clarke a étudié le chant, l’enseignement et la direction musicales au Canada et en Europe. Penni a obtenu une maîtrise en interprétation vocale et un diplôme en enseignement musical de l'Université McGill. Elle a poursuivi ses études de chant au prestigieux Conservatoire royal de La Haye et a acquis une expérience de la scène un peu partout en Europe comme soliste et choriste professionnelle.
En tant que chef, Penni a obtenu une maîtrise de musique en direction chorale à l'Institut Lemmens de Louvain, en Belgique, et a participé à des cours de maître à l'échelle internationale. De 2006 à 2014, elle a dirigé plusieurs chorales à Bruxelles, dont le chœur de la St. Andrew’s Church of Scotland et le chœur de chambre Bruxell' A Cappella.
